craig childs and susan billings:
the art of creativity: a mixed workshop for artists and writers
workshop september 24th + 25th 2015
Creating art is a narrative. Whether using words, colors or contours, the act of invention comes from the same source, a relationship between what is inside and what is outside. Artist Susie Billings and author Craig Childs are offering a dynamic two-day workshop that will take participants through the combined creative process they have developed: how to see the world around you and render it into art. The process works for all forms of expression.
Artists, writers, and neither are welcome.
AN INTIMATE FALL RETREAT TO EXPLORE CREATIVITY THROUGH JOURNALING – BOTH WITH WORDS AND BRUSH – WITH CRAIG CHILDS AND SUSIE BILLINGS. THIS CLASS TAKE’S PLACE AT A BEAUTIFUL ADOBE RESIDENCE LOCATED ON WRIGHT’S MESA, JUST WEST OF NORWOOD. Join us for a 2 day workshop in Norwood Colorado. Please contact Ah Haa School for the Arts in Telluride Co for more information.
summer in colorado
Impressionist sunrise across the mesas starts the summer and then... the rocks... and the quiet Lone Cone... and Paradox sandstone...and studio solitude. Rain is more constant than not, and the greens are remarkable. Phoebe refers to her alpine meadow as "50 shades of green" and that only begins to describe the depth and variety of color. Landscape punctuated by the scent of sage and damp clay. The quirky ocean/desert interface of the southern Baja peninsula that we left in June is replaced by now cool nights. Songbirds replaced by raptors. Sketches of cardon cactus replaced by hollyhocks and wild roses. Sere salt-licked desert replaced by this multitude of color.
The milky way at night remains the same.
